Feelin' Foxy | Honey Bee Cheerful Love Blog Hop

February 24, 2018

Hello there, Welcome to my blog! Today I'm joining the day #2  of a Blog Hop - Giveaway from Honey Bee Stamps to celebrate  "Cheerful Love" a new stamps and dies release.

The cute images are from "Feelin' Foxy stamp set" just released and the sentiment is from "Sending You Sentiments" stamp set.

Here is a closer look to the stamp artwork

Feelin' Foxy | 4x4 Stamp Set $9.95

So this time I had to work with digital images as I'm at the other side of the pound and the stamps didn't arrive on time.   I struggled a wee bit with that so  I decided to print the images and I use a lightbox and a pencil to trace them on watercolour paper. I trace one fox first and then the other net to him. I didn't apply pressure on the pencil.

Once I got the images on the watercolour paper I added colours using the new Nuvo watercolour pencils together with  Derwent watercolour pencils.

When I finished adding colours to the images  I applied  Pistachio and broken china distress Oxide inks at the background using a blending tool.  No masking was required.

To finish I splattered broken china ink all over the background.

I also traced on printer paper, some of the butterflies images from the stamp set ,  I added colours, trimmed them with scissors and   I glued them on the panel.

I stamped the sentiment using the Tim Holtz Platform and Black Simon Says Stamp Ink and using my sewing machine I create a stitched pattern at the edge of the panel.

  38. Digi stamps are tough for me to use too, so well done in figuring out how to make this work! I love what you did with the watercolor pencils; there's so much undercolor here that adds a ton of interest to the piece. Now I'm going to have to break out my watercolor pencils! Thanks so much for sharing.

  46. You did an amazing job considering you did not have the stamps in time to create your design. I am in awe of what you achieved. I love the colours of the foxes and I would love to know how you managed to blend around these with the Oxide Inks without any masks. You would not know that you had not had the stamps and were using the digital images if you had not told us crafters in your write up, this design is great with some techniques used that I have definitely learnt from, thank you. :O)

    1. Hello, thanks for asking . I just went around the image carefully :) sometimes I use a watercolor pencil over the exterior edges and I spread the ink with a water brush too so there is not need to mask the image. :) x Bibi

  53. I had to subscribe to your blog after seeing this hop post because when I saw your card it *literally* made me say, "wow" out loud. :) How did you trace the image onto watercolor paper? I have two lightboxes and I can't figure out how to trace something like that onto such thick paper. It seems too opaque to see through. Do you use a special kind of watercolor paper? This card is just amazing!
