Zig Metallic Watercolor Paints and Cosmos Background Stamp by Simon Says Stamp!
March 31, 2018
Hello everyone! I have mixed feeling about black cards but it was super fun and relaxing spending some time trying and testing new metallic watercolor paints : Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi Gem colors set of 6 .
I do love applying metallic accents to cards using these paints but for today I wanted to see how they look on the gorgeous image produced by Cosmos Background Stamp by Simon Says Stamp.
So in the video I'm using Zig Gem colours watercolor paints and also a hint of the Silver and Yellow Gold from the Starry Colours set.

The first thing I want to say is that the coloring process with these paints was extremly easy!
Before applying color, I used the Tim Holtz Stamping Platform to stamp the image 3 times on black cardstock (240 grams) using Clear Versamark ink and black Nuvo Fine Detail Embossing Powder .
Then, I used round tip watercolor brushes #4 and #6 #2 and I applied a couple of color washes on the images.
I also splattered the panel using the blue paint as I was tryng to use all the colours in the palette.
I was also testing their blendability and opacity on a dark paper. I hope you can see that some areas around the center of the flowers have contrasting colours.
In conclusion you can overlap the colours but you can't see a good blend on dark cardstock... you can still add accents and interest mixing different colours over the paper... for a better blending all you have to do is to mix the colours on a clear block or a pallete first and then apply them to the image.
This is a 6"x6" card. |
