School Bus Messages by Simon Says Stamp
August 23, 2018
Hi there, I put together a super Iconic British card to congratulate my niece Niamh for getting excellent exams results last week. She got "A" on every single topic... wowzer!
I used fun products by Simon Says Stamp: School Bus Messages stamp set and coordinating School Bus Massages die + Basic Lines stamp set.
Keep using School Bus Messages stamp set the whole year round by mixing and matching products to celebrate educational achievements!
For the background of this card, I used line stamps from Basic Lines stamp set and SU Real Red ink to stamp the red crosses of the Union Jack Flag. I used the Tim Holtz Stamping Platform for stamping precision.
I masked the red crosses area using two stripes of printing paper and I kept this masks in place using the magnets of the stamping platform, then I sponged Salty Ocean and Blue Print Sketch Distress Oxide Inks to complete the flag pattern.
My first stamped British flag ever and I love it!
I didn't measure anything by the way. I mean I didn't measure the size of the line stamps, the masks or the paper or the bus. I'm more an intuitive stamper and I was just testing the waters. Lucky me it was done at first try!
I had to move the stamps on the stamping platform in order to elongate the lines and being able to stamp across the whole panel.
When I finished stamping I cut the panel to give shape to the flag and the final piece measured 5" x 5- 1/2" inches. You can make the card any size but I wanted to leave enough space around the school bus image so that the beautiful flag will show up.
My aim was providing an extra idea to use Basic Lines stamp set ... it is truly awesome as you can create many different patterns for card backgrounds, boxes, tags, etc. |
We don't have yellow school buses here in the UK (in my Colombia we do). I guess we don't have traditional school buses here as the local's school are pretty close to everyone's home so pupils can walk, cycle or drive.
Nevertheless, school buses are a global icon and red buses are a strong British icon as well so I played a little bit with that idea.
I stamped the school bus image using Memento black ink and I coloured it with Copic markers. I die cut it using coordinating die.
As if all the previous fun elements were not enough I cut the bus windscreen using a craft knife and I added a shaker behind.
I filled the shaker with Nuvo gold sequins and Nuvo confetti starts in different colours.

I hope you can read the sentiment "School Star .. Keep Shining bright"
I also used You're a star die set , Seeing Stars Stamp set , and the "A+" is from Sweet Sentiments Teacher by Sugarpea designs to complete the card.
That's all for today! I hope you like the card.
