Simon Says Stamp You are Loved Blog Hop + Hearts Stencil
January 10, 2019Hello from the Scottish Highlands, welcome to Simon Says Stamp You are Loved Blog Hop + Giveaway.
We gather together to share ideas and inspiration using beautiful love/ friendship themed supplies from the latest Simon Says Stamp release.
Explore the whole You are Loved Release here and get a free gift with any purchase! Yay.
I tried soooo many things with the stencil and I liked the results every time. However, I decided to put together very minimalistic and contemporaneous cards that will be easy to mass produce with a minimum investment in supplies.
- So all the cards in this blog post measure 5"x5" inches.
- To finish them I also used and 3-3/4" inches square die to die cut and frame the stencilled images. I tried a stitched edge die and it didn't work so nice so I leave it as simple as it is
- I also decided to use a 4-1/2" inches Scallop Square die by Honey Bee Stamps to die cut a backing panel and add an extra decorative element without overwhelming any other part of the cards.
***All supplies listed below...
I first started by spraying temporary adhesive on the back of All My Heart Stencil to be able to adhere it to the cardstock and make the ink blending even easier.
I sprayed very little adhesive as well and I wait for it to dry over the stencil before placing it on the paper to avoid the cardstock getting stuck to the stencil as this can tear it.
Then, I applied a mix of Oxide and Tradicional Distress inks on each panel. As you might know already the same ink colours looks different depending on the kind of ink you use. I love the brightness of traditional Distress ink but the Oxides opacity add even nicer touches to any project.
I applied a heavy coat of each shade using Nuvo blending sponges. I then spray the paper with water and I also splattered the ink of a Nuvo Shimmer Pen to add some sparkle and I was done!
Psss.. avoid any excess of water over the stencil as it could leak underneath the stencil and it will affect the stencilled image definition.
Ok so for the cards below I used Mother Pearl Nuvo Embellishment Mousse and I applied Distress inks on top. I didn't even allow the mousse to dry and to e honest these cards are hot. I really love these cards. They are beautiful in flesh although they are not photogenic.
I embellished with sequins and I was done!
