Simon Says Stamp You are Loved Blog Hop + Hearts Stencil

January 10, 2019

Hello from the Scottish Highlands, welcome to  Simon Says Stamp You are Loved Blog Hop + Giveaway.

We gather together to share ideas and inspiration using beautiful love/ friendship themed supplies from the latest Simon Says Stamp release.

Explore the whole  You are Loved Release here and get a free gift with any purchase! Yay.

For today I made super duper easy cards using All My Heart Stencil together with  Simple Sentiments stamp set  Distress Inks and Nuvo Mousses.

I tried soooo many things with the stencil and I liked the results every time. However, I decided to put together very minimalistic and contemporaneous cards that will be easy to mass produce with a minimum investment in supplies.

  • So all the cards in this blog post measure 5"x5" inches.
  • To finish them I also used and  3-3/4" inches square die to die cut and frame the stencilled images. I tried a stitched edge die and it didn't work so nice so I leave it as simple as it is
  •  I also decided to use a 4-1/2" inches Scallop Square die by Honey Bee Stamps to die cut a backing panel and add an extra decorative element without overwhelming any other part of the cards.

***All supplies listed below...

I first started by spraying temporary adhesive on the back of All My Heart Stencil to be able to adhere it to the cardstock and make the ink blending even easier.

I sprayed very little adhesive as well and I wait for it to dry over the stencil before placing it on the paper to avoid the cardstock getting stuck to the stencil as this can tear it.

Then, I applied a mix of Oxide and Tradicional Distress inks on each panel.  As you might know already the same ink colours looks different depending on the kind of ink you use. I love the brightness of traditional Distress ink but the Oxides opacity add even nicer touches to any project.

I tried to use ink colours of the same family but then I just was experimented with some contrasting inks like black or yellow ink over red like in the card below.

I applied a heavy coat of each shade using  Nuvo blending sponges. I then spray the paper with water and I also splattered the ink of a Nuvo Shimmer Pen to add some sparkle and I was done!

Psss..  avoid any excess of water over the stencil as it could leak underneath the stencil and it will affect the stencilled image definition.

I also decided to make a few cards using Nuvo Mousses and this gorgeous stencil.

For this card, I used a  brush to apply hot Pink Nuvo Mousse you can try this with any mousse colour you have, embossing paste, glimmer paste.. etc

I think the mousses give a lot more definition to the stencilled image than the Distress inks and the shimmer is a winner.

Sadly their shimmer couldn't be captured in the pictures as it is too dark here in Scotland. We got not sun light at the moment. All my pictures are looking a bit green regardless of the lighting equipment I got. Arg! that's the joy of winter in countries on this side of the word.

Ok so for the cards below I used Mother Pearl  Nuvo Embellishment Mousse and I applied Distress inks on top.  I didn't even allow the mousse to dry and to e honest these cards are hot. I really love these cards. They are beautiful in flesh although they are not photogenic.

Oh! I also added a bit of dimension in some of the cards by using double-sided adhesive foam pads behind the banner or the front panel.

I embellished with sequins and I was done!
