Spellbinders Decorative Glimmer Blog Hop + Giveaway
July 02, 2019
Hi everyone, welcome to my blog!
Today I'm taking part in the Spellbinders Decorative Glimmer Blog Hop + Giveaway to shower you with ideas to use the latest Glimmer hot foil plates available.
The Flowers Pattern Glimmer Hot Foil Plate will easily allow you to foil a whole background panel.
I made two cards to show you the foiled image produced by this plate.
For this card, I used the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot foil System to foil a piece of smooth white cardstock using Glimmer Hot Foil Aura. I then removed any over foiling using a MONO sand eraser.
Next, I applied colours with Copics Markers.
The foil resists the markers ink and it is not affected at all if you pass a marker over it. This doesn't damage your marker neither so that colouring a foiled image is easy.

Next, I foiled a piece of cardstock using Hello Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and Glimmer Hot Foil Aura and I die cut the sentiment with its coordinating die.
I repeated the process but I was curious about foil/cardstock combos.
So I tried various crazy colour combos but Cool Pool Cardstock by Fun Stampers Journey + Tangerine Glimmer Hot Foil was the one I liked the most.
You can see how the orange hot foil looks on a non- neutral cardstock colour below...
I love this look an feel. The foil shines through the coloured images ... just stunning in real life.
To foil the sentiment for this card, I also used Fuchsia Flower Glimmer Hot Foil.
I tried to be light handed when applying the media over the foil to avoid scratching it. Apart from that, there is no other thing to bear in mind when using coloured pencils on a foiled image. However, I didn't add any blending solution so I haven't tested the foil using it. It is something I might do the next time.
To finish up both cards, I also added black and white dots and lines over the florals using white and black fine tip markers.
I added sequins and a few Nuvo Dream Drops.
