Spellbinders Becca Feeken Holiday 2019 Blog Hop + Giveaway
August 26, 2019
Hello from Scotland! Welcome to Spellbinders 3D Holiday Vignettes & Glistening Holiday Collections blog hop.
We are sharing ideas and inspiration to use elegant and traditional dies designed by Becca Feeken.
I'm featuring :
- Grand Holiday Cabinet Etched Dies.
- Shapeabilities Nativity Layering Set Etched Dies.
- Sentiments from Damask Jubilee Glimmer Hot Foil Plate.
- Shapeabilities Reindeer Prance Layering Set
There are six dies sets in the Holiday Vignettes collection, three of them are designed to create shadow box cards and the other three offer extra decorative elements for the shadow boxes.
For today, I made quick and easy shaped cards.
Check out the previous post here with 5 extra ideas to use dies in this collection.

Landscape - Top Fold Card
To make the card base, I used the large frame die from Grand Holiday Cabinet Etched Dies to die cut two identical pieces of cardstock.
I then trimmed the little hooks on the side of the panels using scissors.
Using a scoring board, I scored at 1-1/4" inches from the top of one of the pieces to then fold over the scoring line. I applied adhesive on the area above the scoring line to glue this to the other panel.
The card base was done!
I then decorate the card using intricate dies from Grand Holiday Cabinet Etched Dies and I also used Nativity Layering Set Etched Dies .
For the card background, I did some ink blending using blue Distress inks and I embellished with sequins.
To add dimension I layered three silhouettes die cuts and I added double-sided foam behind the front panel of the card.
Although Nativity Layering Set Etched Dies coordinates with Grand Christmas Lattice Arch die set another set in this collection, you can make it work with any other die set or use it alone to create card toppers and tags.
Stamping with Glimmer Plates
Something I have been experimenting is to stamp using glimmer plates. the results are gorgeous as you also get a letterpress effect.
You can do this using your glimmer hot foil system platform but this time I just used the Spellbinders Platinum die-cutting machine.
How to do it
- Apply clear ink over the plates
- Place them on the die cutting machine main platform.
- Carefully put a piece of black cardstock on top ( make sure to apply before anti-static powder).
- Put the embossing mat over the paper
- Place one of the die-cutting plates from the machine on top
- Run the sandwich through the machine.
- Apply embossing powder
- Heat it up.
Portrait Fold Card
You can also use the large frame die from any of the die sets in this collection to partially die cut a card base. so that you will create a shaped card.
To complete the card above I used Shapeabilities Reindeer Prance Layering Set that coordinates perfectly with Grand Holiday Cabinet Etched Dies used to create the card base.
