Easy Rainbow Watercolor

Happy New Year everyone and big thanks for your support during 2019.

It has been hard to craft during the holiday whit the family around and the kids on holiday but I had done my best to keep my crafty spirit going through the season.

Today's card was made using Beautiful Flowers II stamp set by Simon Says Stamp one of my favorite stamp sets ever.

The sentiment is from All the Thanks stamp set another wonderful set launched for thanksgiving but it can be used all year round.


I simply stamped the large floral on using Memento black ink and I applied color using  Copic Markers.

I used pink, peach and brown colours and over the marker, I used colored pencils to add contrast.
I made a large composition but things were wrong at the last minute.

 After making a pretty decent coloring that covered a 6x6 inches piece,  I decided to use a stencil over and Nuvo Glimmer paste. I  spoiled my work as the paste covered completely the leaves and the background! Noooo. what I was thinking?

To rescue part of my work, I fussy cut the flowers and I adhere it using foam pads over a  4x4 inches panel I stamped previously on a corner using black ink and the same large floral image.

I totally love the look and feel of the colored flower over the black and white background but then I grabbed another stencil and Nuvo gold embellishment mousse. I was very close to spoil my work again! Noooo.

The gold texture seems to be completely unnecessary so I tried to soften it with a hint of pink ink!

I then stamped the sentiment and  I added a light grey background panel to then glue it on the card base.

I embellished with silver sequins!

Next, I randomly applied over the image  Golden Age Ultimate Waterproof Pen it adds contrast and sparkle.

 I also heat emboss the banner on black card using Nuvo ultra-fine detail gold embossing powder. 

Top tip to get perfect heat embosses sentiment: Use anti-static powder on the cardstock before stamping. Use a Nuvo swipe Brush to brush off any anti-static powder after heat embossing.


I  splattered the background with a red wine Nuvo aqua Flow pen and I embellished with Simon Says Stamp Marina sequins.

To add colour to this card. I used   Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours paints, these are beautiful, easy to use,  great quality at amazing value and you will get all the colours you will ever need including gold, silver and pearl in the 36 colour set.

 You can spray water on the paint and mix different paint colours on a pallet to create thousands of new colour shades... the sky's the limit.

 To apply paints to your artwork, you can use a water brush or watercolour brushes. For the card today  I only used a round tip Silver Black Velvet brush #4. 


 I started by stamping the image on the left side of a 6"x8" inches piece of Arches watercolour paper using Antique Linen Distress Oxide Ink.

I used red shades mixed with white to add colours to the flowers.  To add lights I used yellow, orange and white. To add dark areas I used brown and black and to add colours to the leaves I used different shades of green.

I then applied a wash of aqua and green watercolour paints on the background and around the floral image.  I mixed the paint with loads of water to get a very soft look.




I couldn't resist and I  heat embossed the large floral image on the back of the envelope using Versamark and Gold Nuvo Fine Detail Embossing Powder.

I also heat embossed the sentiment using Gold Embossing Powder and I made a little banner layered on gold cardstock.

To finish I embellished the card with crystals.

Supplies

4 floral designs and 14 sentiments to mix and match to create cards for different occasions.

I have to say that this image was rather easy to colour.   I mixed the paint with loads of water to get a lighter watch on those areas I wanted to highlight ( petals foldings)  and I applied a more saturated wash at the base of the petals to create shadows.

I mixed black paint and a lot of water to apply the mix on those areas whit shadows as well and I applied a hint of white at the edge of the petals.

I also stamped an envelope using another floral image from Beautiful Flowers Stamp set by Simon Says Stamp!

The card base and envelope also were stamped with a have to have background stamp set called  Centre Cut Geometric Pattern.
