Delicate Details Stamp Set by Tonic Studios

June 07, 2017

This is very simple composition but I love the delicate vibrancy of the stamped images after applying an easy watercolour technique. I find the colouring process very enjoyable and it also give the benefit of creating a very unique and personalised pice of art work.

The card today features Delicate Details Stamp Set by Tonic Studios

I used Antique Linen Destress ink to stamp the images on watercolour paper (300 grams , cold pressed) and I made a masks using Post It notes to be able to overlay the same florals images "twice" and create a bouquet.

Next I applied colour a using water brushes and various water based inks such as: Distress inks by Ranger, Stampin' Up! inks .

When I finish colouring I die cut the panel using 2 rectangular dies by Tonic Studios to create the dimensional frame at the front and I used my sewing machine to pierce holes on the frame.

I glued down the back of the panel on a C6 ( a6) cardstock base, then I glue down the frame using double sided adhesive foam and making sure it was aligned.

To finish I stamped with Jet Black Stazon ink the sentiment ("Just a Note to Say"from Simple Sentiments Stamp Set) in the smaller central piece and I glue it down just in the center of the frame. (Stamping on waterfolour paper can be tricky so I used a stamping platform to make sure I could stamp over and over and get a crisp stamped sentiment)

And thats all! I hope you like this card.

A note for my readers:

This card was made last December to be displayed at CHA ( Creativation - trade show Jan 19 - 2017) . I have many many projects ideas and videos in hold and I know I'm due to share them all with you!! Nooooooo.

Life seems to be busier than never this British summer as with the sun shinning on the sky days seems to be shorter to do all we want but I'm still enjoying life and crafts everyday! We don't get a lot sun here so hot days are to go out :) With my 2 toddlers around the house, getting my new home and my new craft space organised all seems to be a bit slower... I'll get there, I'll be video blogging again soon. Now I'm going to the play zone... cheers

Bibi

Simon Says Stamp | More Spring Flowers

April 25, 2017

Hello everyone, I hope you had a happy Easter. We were in holiday and despite we stayed at home I had to stretch the days to enjoy a bit of crafting but I couldn't stretch them enough for blogging or editing my latest videos using the beautiful stamp sets in the post today: More Spring Flowers Stamp Set (SSS1017037) and Sending Flowers by Simon Says Stamp.

I made a bundle of cards using these stamp sets, applying different watercolor techniques and also more traditional stamping techniques. I'll be sharing pictures of each card every day this week.

For today's card I used Kuretake : Gansai Tambi Japanese Watercolour Paints. Click here to see another card I made with the same image using watercolour pencils.

I think the rose stamp from More Spring Flowers Stamp Set provides a perfect image to get watercoloring practise and the results might vary depending the coloring tools you use.

This time I tried to use one single watercolor shade to paint the roses. I used the purple #38 from Kuretake : Gansai Tambi Japanese Watercolour Paints 36 pan set. lovely watercolor paints, great quality, value for money , easy to blend and apply.

Instead a water brush I used a round watercolour brush #4 but you can use any of them. The Nuvo water Brushes are a great solution for card makers not only because of the price but also because the brushes has a very fine tip and they will allow you to work easily on small areas like the petals in these roses.

I tried to build a heart by stamping the rose 3 times on the center of the panel but I nail it! As I couldn't see the heart shape perfectly defined I used a heart die to make a mask , then I placed the negative mask on the watercolored panel and I sponged Antique Linen Distress Ink on top but that made the things worse as the distress ink covered the watercolor work! Noooo... what I was thinking about?

I stamped the images using Antique Linen Distress ink ( card at the right) and Dusty Concord Distress ink ( card at the left) on watercolor paper 300 gram, cold pressed. I applied the watercolour paint slightly diluted with water starting on the base of each petal and working towards the top, cleaning the brush half way to get a lighter shade at the top of each petal (By the way I still prefer Antique Linen Distress ink to stamp images that will be watercolored) as it blends nicely.

I also made matching envelopes using Sending Flowers Stamp Set by Simon Stamps, Perhaps I used the stamps in a very peculiar way as I used the " envelope lines stamp" to stamp a texture at the envelope side. I found very relaxing going a bit crazy with the stamp that way. Next time I'll try to create a woodgrain background with it. why not?

I used Stampin! Up! : Old Olive and Kraft cardstock, Linen Thread, White Embossing Powder, whisper White Envelopes, Elegant Eggplant ink and Old Olive ink.

That's all! I hope you enjoy the projects today. Do not hesitate in ask any questions or leave a comment. I would love to heard from you.

Happy Crafting

Special Reason Stamp Set Stampin Up watercolor flowers

Special Reason Stampin' Up! | Video post GDP070 - Sketch Challenge

February 04, 2017

I love watercoloring because is very relaxing and every time I have the chance I make a card that involves a little bit of extra water.

I need to admit that I'm not great at watercolouring but I have adapted some of the techniques I learnt at art school into my card making activity and this techniques allows me to give that watercolour look and feel to stamped images.

That is what I'm sharing with you today in the video tutorial below.

This card is my entry for Global Design Project Challenge today #70 - A super cool sketch Challenge. I hope you can join us this week HERE! with your amazing creations.

As I mention in the video you can add as many layers of colour to your images and you can take from 5 minutes to do this to 1 hour... it all depends on how much you enjoy it. I just like it and I love to spend time watercolouring.

Despite the images never will be identical they will look very similar as you used a stamped image to start with...

I also use craft materials to make this kind of work. Water based inks in the next colours: Crushed Curry ink and a darker yellow: Delightful Dijon ink. Pear Pizzazz ink and a darker green ink colour: Mossy Meadow and for shadows and contrast I applied Early Espresso ink. All made by Stampin' Up! but you can use "Any" water based ink to do this or your average watercolour paints.

I used watercolour paper 300 grams, cold pressed an to apply colour I used a Sable Round watercolour brush size #4 ( I have a Daler Rowney brush).

Because the petals of this flower image are all separated from each other it was easy to apply the water just inside the outline of each petal and keep their shape.

Different images will give you different possibilities

When applying washes of colour is very important avoiding getting wet at the same time the edges of 2 consecutive petals because the ink will blend or bleed and they will become 1 single messy thing. (I hope you understand what I mean ;)). So while I was working in one area the ink were getting dry in some other areas and then I applied another wash of colour allowing the ink to dry between applications.

I also used a white ball pen to add some sparkles of light here and there.. on the leaves on the flower pistil ( center) and I embellish with some clear and gold sequins.

To finish I run the panel through my sewing machine and I added drops of Glossy accents and I applied Wink of Stella Clear.

That's all! I hope you enjoy this project and do not hesitate to ask any question or leave a comment. I would love to heard from you.

All supplies listed at the bottom of the post.

Happy Crafting.

And this is a gift card idea I want to share with you today!

Kylie told me that I could use a previous project or make a new one to participate in this Blog Highlight and I really really wanted to take this opportunity to share with you one post from last year but with an innovative and original idea to use geometrical stamps like What's your type? stamp set from Stampin' Up! to create an artistic compositions.
