 I  had several ideas about how to colour the images and what mediums I should use to do it.

I also wanted to try gold heat emboss on dark cardstock but once I stamped the images to try them on smooth paper  I thought I really didn't need to do anything else.

They were beautiful on their own. You can stamp the whole scene or just use on the images in the scene to make an even simpler composition.


 The stamp set produces a stunning sketched impression. The lines of the main image are super fine  and this is really cool and original artwork ...

 I really think it will make a whole card with very little effort.


However, I went ahead and I  applied quick and easy colours using  Copic Ciao Markers.


I also applied Nuvo Crystal Glaze on the shoes.. they look so pretty!

I'm also loving the results of using  Bouys Stencil with Nuvo Hybrid inks and a small make-up brush.

Surprise Card 

See? All you have to do is to place your gift behind the flap and stick the die cut panel on a card base, you can use double sided foam if you wish to place behind the flap a thicker surprise gift. eg a small piece of jewellery or flat chocolate.

This is also a very cool die to create money- cards for Christmas or with the smaller die in the pack you can also make an advent calendar.

Finishing Touches

I applied  Nuvo Shimmer Pen over the stencilled image and Nuvo Crystal Glaze on the bubbles.

I used Nuvo Dream Drops Cloud 9 to add a pearl in the centre of the seashell next to the mermaid.

To embellish I also added a few sequins.

So I wanted to keep these cards very simple and clean to feature the stunning images and to complete these cards,  I simply added a layer of  Tip Taupe cardstock.  These are C6 cards, although the one in the centre is slightly larger as I used a C6 Honey Bee Stamps die from a die set called Deckled Edge A2 so I had to add ab it of extra length.   I'm never worried about the size of the cards BTW as I know you can make them in your favourite size. I added sentiments from two  different stamp sets:  Joy to the word by Honey Bee Stamps and  Very Merry Sentiments by Concord and 9th

For this card, I used 240 grams cardstock only.  The front of this car measures 6"x6" inches and the card folded measures 7" width so that the envelope was customized to fit a 6"x7" inches card.    This is a great size to create a nativity scene with images from Nativity Play and Angel Wings stamp sets.  I used the ovals from Card Front Designs die set to create the windows in this card and also die cut the front panel using a small die in this set so that  I  added a kind of legs for the nativity scene. You can make loads of things with Card Front Designs die set. such as a shaker globe, or a Christmas bubbles, tags.. just play around with the shapes.

I added colour to all the images in this post using Ciao Copic Markers ( Set B) and I added shimmer with a Nuvo Shimmer Pen.

Below another card idea....  the layout is not vertical but horizontal.

You don't need to do any different to put this card together ...  just turn around your shadow box base card and leave the folding at the top.

You can always stick decorative elements in any orientation with no prob.

The front of this card measures 5-1/2 " x 4-1/4" inches and folded it measures 5-1/2 " x  5-1/4" inches. This card will fit in a 6"x6"  envelope or you can customize envelope to perfect size using an envelope punch board.

I also used  Cubic Simply Stencil and Distress Oxide Inks to add interest to the front panels of the cards.

FRONT AND BACK PANELS PAPER SIZE

• PAPER WIDTH 

To calculate the width of the paper you need to add the envelope / or card front width + desired box depth.

Scoring lines should be traced over the width of the panel and at the same size of desire depth from both ends.

e.g. If you want your shadowbox to be  1"  deep you need to apply formula above ( to calculate the width of the paper)  and score the paper 1" from both sides.
 If you want a slim shadow box card e/g.  1/2"inch, you need to apply formula above ( to calculate the width of the paper)  and score the paper 1/2" from both sides.

• PAPER LENGTH:  

For a square or rectangular card, you can choose your desired length...  any length is ok but keeping proportions.

INSIDE PANELS OR INSERTS SIZE

1. To calculate the size of  the insert that goes behind the front panel  you need the next formula:

Envelope /card front width  - minus  1/8" inches

To calculate where to score folding lines at both ends of your panels, you need to divide the depth of your box by two  (2).

2. To calculate the size of a second panel behind the front panel of the box you need the next formula:

Envelope / or card front width -   minus 1/2 of the box depth  measurement  -  minus 1/8" inches

To calculate where to score the folding lines at the end of your panels you need to divide the depth of your box by four 4.
